HI! I'm Jo Shrigley. I play music for fun! In my other lives I'm a mum of a 5 year old, and I work part time as a Data Analyst. Although I picked up ukulele for the first time in lockdown 2020, I've played it most days since. I've been singing in choirs for 5 years. My music: - I have a duet called 'Pick and Mixolydian' with long time friend Bruce Omundsen. I pick my ukulele while Bruce limits our repertoire with the Mixolydian scale of his small pipes! We perform monthly at Wellington Acoustic Routes open mic nights. - I teach a weekly ukulele class for kids at Dynamic After School Care in Karori. I provide all materials including ukuleles. - I host a mixed level monthly Saturday night ukulele online jam where we do songs from 1920-2022, including chord melody and a variety of strumming styles. - I busk at markets and on Cuba street with jam buddies Megan O'donovan and Steve Wallace. My inspiration and ideas come from a variety of sources including: - I am a Patreon member of international ukulele teachers Cynthia Lin and Ukulele Zen, and attend monthly intermediate lessons with both. - I have just finished a fantastic chord melody course by Brian Liu. See more about this on my facebook feed. - I am a member of Wellington's World Song Singers (WOSOSI) choir, and in the past led songs, including japanese folk song: Furusato.
